Workshop on Projective and Polar Geometry
The Institute for Geometry and its Applications, the University of Adelaide, is hosting a Finite Geometry Workshop during the week 11-15 January 1999. The purpose of this workshop is to identify and further investigate techniques that have recently proved fruitful in obtaining results in finite projective and polar geometry. We will discuss open problems in the context of these and other techniques. There is no registration fee, and all interested are welcome. Please feel free to circulate this announcement.
The workshop will be held in Room 102 of the Mathematics Building of the University of Adelaide.
Invited Speakers include Professor Laura Bader (University of Rome); Professor Aart Blokhuis (Technical University of Eindhoven/Free University of Amsterdam); and Professor Hendrik Van Maldeghem (University of Ghent).
There may be a small amount of financial support available to interstate and overseas participants, with graduate students being given priority. Please indicate if you wish to be considered for support.
Accomodation can be arranged at the Princes Lodge Motel for $48 per night, or the Royal Adelaide Hospital Residential Wing which is adjacent to the University of Adelaide. Student rooms with shared facilities are $10 per night; rooms with ensuite, lounge room and either one or two bedrooms (each bedroom containing twin beds) are $50 per night for one person and $60 per night for two or more people.
